SunTerra EnergyBlock wall construction method was developed by, Jim Chauncey, founder of SunTerra Homes Inc., a design/construction company located in Bend, Oregon since 1990. Jim Chauncey's background experience includes: architectural college student, engineering specialist at Freightliner Corporation, building design and construction business, real estate development and sales, alternative energy manufacturing company, H.V A.C. company, and a publishing company presenting energy-efficient, passive-solar house plans and building science information. With this experience, Jim has the ability to evaluate the value of applying a technology or product to improve building construction.

SunTerra's mission is to design and build the most cost effective, energy efficient, healthy and comfortable homes that surpass our customers' expectations for today and provide security for their future. SunTerra Homes has received the most prestigious one-of-a-kind national awards including:

SunTerra relocated to Bend, Oregon from Billings, Montana where they resided for 15 years, learning building science from the Canadian R-2000: Climate research program in the 80s.

We have watched and waited many years for a product that would be an improvement over our choice of advanced framing techniques with foam insulation construction for our clients. We have evaluated straw bale, staggered stud, SIP, ICF and other construction methods. Until now, we have not found a better value in building methods. We have always made passive solar a priority component to home design, but have been limited to its energy savings because of the interior overheating of the building. Now we have developed a wall system that does everything. It insulates better then all other wall systems. And, it allows us to reduce heating costs up to 70% with passive solar.
